Sophia's Gift © 2014
While protecting children come to mind on this dangerous issue, they are not the only ones at risk. In our advocacy SophiasGift.Org has been informed this is not only a pediatric concern.
A woman shared with us her story of going to visit her mother in the hospital after having surgery. Her mother was seated in a wheelchair, and a nurse had placed her near the window to enjoy some sunshine. As the daughter walked in, she saw that her mother had slipped down, with the lap belt just under her arms, and the lap belt was pressing on her chest. Had the daughter not walked in at that moment, her mother's fate could have been forever changed. Her mother lacked the strength to push herself up, or the ability to call for help.
Sophia lacked the voice to call-out, or the strength and ability to stop what was happening to her. It happened in a moment, and forever changed the lives of those who loved her.
Every incident, life ending or not, must be reported directly to FDA. This will ensure they are informed on every endangerment of those who are using wheelchairs. Click on the link below to take you directly to the FDA Website.
